Amélie

Class of ‘02, Amélie is a self-taught French-Italian artist proudly based in Rome.

She’s infamous for saying, “I paint better than I speak”, as she effortlessly scrambles together Italian, French, and English every time she opens her mouth — and honestly, we’re grateful for that.

Although her family was completely removed from the world of art, Amélie grew up copying masterworks, discovering oil painting and art history books at around age seven during a school workshop.

She calls Van Gogh and Klimt her two "fathers," with Hilma af Klint joining the family a bit later.

After a brief stint in Paris, she left the French capital to pursue her dreams back in her hometown, Rome, where, “making it” as an artist while more difficult “is also way more needed,” she says.

In 2026, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Sapienza University of Rome, (so yes — she actually knows what she’s doing…most of the time).
